High-dose chemotherapy sup-ported by stem-cell transplanta-tion in treatment of patients with germ cell tumors of testis

High-dose chemotherapy supported by stem-cell transplantation may be used in treatment of advanced testicular cancer and in refractory cases as salvage therapy of first line standard option. In more than 70% of patients the long-term survival can be achievedin cases with negative prognostic factors. Ordinary high-dose chemotherapy consists of 2-3 cycles of carboplatin and etoposide may be combined with ifosfamide or paclitaxel. Surgical treatment must be used in salvage treatment of patients with germ cell tumors of testis.
