The influence of dietary factors on urinary stones formation among the inhabitants of our region

SUMMARY

Urinary stone disease prevalence is increasing around the world. It has been estimated that before 2030 costs for treating urinary stones in the USA will be the same as annually bladder cancer expenses. The economic impact of this problem for our country can not be underestimated and though looking for new ways of urinary stones prevention is very important.

135 patients 22-89 years old were asked about their dietary habits from 17.11.11 to 19.02.14. The tool consisted from 8 questions about the consumption of milk, sour milk, cheese, meat, coffee, black and green tea and water. All patients were divided on 3 groups with 60 pts in urinary stone group, 47 - in urinary diathesis group and 28 - in the control group without stones and diathesis. Results are shown in tables 1-3. The statistical analysis with 0,95 accuracy showed no relation between urinary stones and calcium rich food ( milk, cheese, sour milk) and a clear relation between consumption of large amounts of meat, coffee, black tea and formation of urinary stones.

While looking for relation between some kinds of food and urinary stones we found that there was no relation between dairy products (milk, cheese, sour milk) consumption and urinary stones formation while using food with great amount of coffee, black tea and meat led to formation of stones in urinary tract.
