Expression of inflammation and oxidative stress markers in patients with bladder cancer

SUMMARY

It is assumed that a concomitant urinary tract infection can have an influence of bladder cancer course.

A research aim was assessment of ocyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) endothelial and inducible NO synthase (eNOS, iNOS) expression connection with clinicopathologic features and concomitant inflammatory process.

Immunohistochemical research of СOX-2, eNOS and iNOS expression in bioptates taken from 44 patients with superficial bladder cancer that were divided into groups according to absence or presence of concomitant urinary tract infection.

We did not reveal connection of investigational markers expression with grade, stage and relaps status of bladder cancer. The increasing of expression of COX-2 and iNOS was observed in patients with bladder cancer, while the level of eNOS expression did not differ from an intact epithelium. The increasing of iNOS expression in bladder cancer on a background an inflammatory process can testify the negative influence of inflammation on tumor course.
