Rationale the choice of treatment of nephrolithiasis

A comparative analysis of the results of treatment of nephrolithiasis solitary among 1586 patients, where 545 patients were treated by PCNL and 1,041 patients by ESWL. Comparison of the results of treatment was conducted according to parameters such as the fullness of purification way system kidneys from fragments of the stone, complications, postoperative period while in the hospital, the need for additional interventions and helpings procedures. The data indicate that ESWL is the method of choice in the treatment of kidney stones the size of up to 1.0 cm (at the density of the stone below 600-800 HU), and if the size of the stone larger than 1.0 cm (any density), preference should be given the benefit of applications PCNL.
