Open study on the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of urolithiasis in Ukraine

SUMMARY

The open study of the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of the urinary stone disease (USD) in Ukraine is conducted.

Evaluation of patients included history taking, complaints (questioning), objective examination, laboratory tests (urinalysis), ultrasonic examination of the kidneys and urinary tract and also an assessment of the results of the treatment as by patients so physicians. The main condition for a set of patients was a diagnosis of USD which was found as at first examination so in the history. All patients received URONEFRON in orally after eating by 25-30 drops three times a day for 4 weeks. Treatment efficacy was assessed by the dynamics of severity of symptoms, laboratory parameters of urine analysis, localization and size of stones by the data of ultrasound of the urinary system. Also was done the following estimation of allergic reactions. Evaluation of the treatment was carried out by both doctor and patient.

The study involved 7587 patients with USD from 41 cities from 24 regions of Ukraine in the age of over 15 years, who were under inpatient stay, outpatient and dispensary observation. At first with the signs of the USD was applied 57% of patients, repeatedly - 43%. The 55% of them were male and 45% female, i.e. male dominated. The 22% of them were patients who had previous surgery for kidney stones. The highest uptake about USD was registered in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhzhya, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

It the study was revealed the genetic predisposition to the disease: the relatives of 62% of patients also suffered from USD but 38% from them denied family history.

Only 10% of patients had not complained, their kidney stones were found during the preventive ultrasonic examination (US), in 90% of patients was complaining about dull or paroxysmal pain in the lumbar region, radiating pain along the ureter and pain in the abdomen.

The older the patient, the greater probability of detecting of the USD. So, in the age from 15 to 25 years stones were found in 5% of patients, in the age from 25 to 35 years - in 17%, from the age 35 to 45 years - in 22%, from the age 45 to 55 years - in 26% and in the age older than 55 years - in 30% of patients.

Cup-stones were found in 33% of patients, pelvic stones - in 28%, ureteral stones - in 30% and of the bladder - in 9% of patients. The sizes of identifying stones of most of the patients were from 0.3 to 1 cm. After a month of treatment, most of patients had no concretions.

Evaluation of the results of treatment as a good was marked by 78% of doctors, more than 21% found it as satisfactory and 0.6% of them were not satisfied with the treatment. Evaluation of patients distributed according to specialists.

Only 1.6% of patients who had received Uronefron marked allergic reactions, the 99% of cases with slight degree of manifestation.

The results of study certifies about the effectiveness of URONEFRON preparation, the drops for oral use produced by PJSC “Farmak” in patients with the USD. The use of preparation allows for a better release of the urinary tract calculi, improve laboratory diagnostic indicators of urine and also to regression of clinical symptoms of the disease and improve the general condition of patients.

The preparation was well tolerated by patients. Serious adverse reactions during the treatment by examined preparation were not observed that is for the absence of adverse changes of laboratory indexes indicates about the safety of its use in patients with the USD.

The results of the clinical trial allow us recommend URONEFRON, drops for oral use produced by PJSC “Farmak” for clinical use in the treatment of the USD.
