Dynamics of incidence of prostate cancer in the dnipropetrovsk region in the 2003-2013 years

SUMMARY

Analyzed the incidence, mortality, the results of clinical supervision and special treatments for patients with prostate cancer in the Dnipropetrovsk region in 2003-2013 years

Revealed that from 2006 to 2013, the incidence of prostate cancer (PCa) in the Dnipropetrovsk region increased from 328 to 568 people (from 10.5 to 17.2 per 100 thousand of population). In Ukraine, the figures for this period amounted to 5917 (12.8 per 100 thousand. Population) and 7785 men (in 2012 - 7512 men, or 16.5 per 100 thousand of population). The number of deaths in the Dnipropetrovsk region increased from 179 (5.3 per 100 thousand of ppulation) in 2006 to 261 (7.9 per 100 thousand of population) men. In Ukraine, the figures for this period amounted to 3,099 (6.6 per 100 thousand. Population) and 3538 men, or 7.63 per 100 thousand of population. In this case, mortality up to a year has been a steady downward trend in the Dnipropetrovsk region and in Ukraine in general.

In Dnipropetrovsk region observed increase in the percentage of patients with I - II stage. PCa from 44.2 (2003) to 50.0 (2012) with a reduction to 43 percent in 2013, while the percentage of patients III and IV stage. 10 years varies as upward and downward. Draws attention to a growth in the proportion of patients with unknown disease stage from 2.1 (2003) to 16.8 (2013). In Dnipropetrovsk region from 2003 to 2013 an increase in the number of patients with newly diagnosed from 358 to 522, respectively. Also, a 5-year survival rate after this period has steadily increased as the number of patients with prostate cancer in the Dnipropetrovsk region, located at a dispensary. In just the past 11 years, taking into account the fluctuations in both upward and downward, there is a rise in the percentage of advanced cases of prostate cancer from 17.3% to 20.1%.

From 2003 to 2013, in the Dnipropetrovsk region a clear tendency to increase the number of new cases of prostate cancer, and the number of patients who have received special techniques. The incidence of prostate cancer and mortality from prostate cancer in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as in Ukraine, with variations, more pronounced in the Dnipropetrovsk region, both upward and downward, in general, tend to increase.
