Journal policy
Editorial policy is aimed at representing of the up-to-date scientific ideas of the latest achievements and topical problems of domestic and foreign scientists. In this context while reviewing manuscripts, Editor-in-Chief, Editors, and Editorial Board are guided exceptionally by their scientific novelty, theoretical value and practical contribution into development of medical science, regardless of author’s post, his/her science degree, age, ethnic origin, nationality, gender, religious belief and political philosophy.
Journal "Urologiya" (Urology) publishes scientific articles devoted to topical problems of theoretical, clinical, preventive, social medicine, its history as well as lectures, interesting case reports, covering unusual cases, reviews on monographs and commemorative articles devoted to prominent scientists.
In order to comply with the requirements for the quality of the scientific publication, the editorial staff takes a number of measures to prevent plagiarism in the published materials. To identify duplicate submissions in other publications and possible plagiarism, all submitted manuscripts are checked by StrikePlagiarism. StrikePlagiarism software checks the contents of manuscripts on the basis of a large database of periodicals, articles, and online resources. Any case of borrowed text in the article is additionally examined for suspicion of plagiarism and self-plagiarism in accordance with the editorial policy of our publication. The editorial staff of the journal "Urologiya" (Urology) allows an originality of the text of at least 80% for the manuscript to be published.
The percentage of similarity of the manuscript under review to the previously published material is additionally verified, with an acceptable limit of similarity of text from one source does not exceed 5%. If the similarity level is above 5%, the manuscript is returned to the author for rephrasing the text and adding a reference to the source of the copied material. Authors are advised to properly refer to the source to avoid plagiarism and copyright infringement.
When considering a manuscript for possible plagiarism, the most common types of plagiarism are taken into account:
– reproduction of other people's words, sentences, ideas, etc. as their own without authorship;
– self-plagiarism is the use by the author of his previous publication without proper citation and confirmation of the original source;
– rephrasing, copying complete paragraphs with changes of some words without changing sentence structure or changing sentence structure but not words;
– word for word copying of the text without quotation marks and indication of authorship;
– unintentional plagiarism is an incorrectly cited original source or a properly cited original one but incorrectly rephrased original text. Authors should either confidently rephrase or cite, and in both cases indicate the source.
Proven duplication of the article, plagiarism or falsification of the results is the ground for rejection of the article.
Published articles in which plagiarism was revealed after careful study and approval by the editor-in-chief are removed from the journal's website.
